Recycling Information

All recyclables may be co-mingled (mixed together). However, if you have a lot of white office paper, please consider keeping that somewhat separate. Call 450-6162 for more information about commercial business programs.

Cardboard (all thick & thin types)

  • Brown bags
  • Corrugated boxes
  • Cereal-type boxes (chipboard)
  • Pizza Boxes
  • Milk cartons
  • Large Juice containers - remove spouts (Juice boxes are NOT recyclable)

Note: remove all plastic and Styrofoam

Glass

GLASS RECYCLERS

STARTING AUGUST 1ST, 2010:  
*ALL LABELS, CAPS AND LIDS, ON GLASS, MUST BE REMOVED. *
INSPECTIONS WILL BE MADE TO INSURE THAT THE PRODUCT IS FREE OF CONTAMINANTS.  PRODUCTS WITH LABELS, CAPS OR LIDS WILL BE REJECTED.  WE THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN OUR RECYCLING PROGRAMS.
NO LIGHTBULBS OF ANY TYPE WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THE GLASS RECYCLING PROGRAM

 

Magazines, Catalogs, and Telephone Books

  • e.g., Time, Newsweek, People, Lands End, etc.

Metals

  • Aluminum cans, clean foil & pie tins
  • Tin and steel food cans
Please rinse all contents out of cans.

Mixed Paper

If you are placing office paper in your blue recycling cart, please place in a small bag first to avoid litter blowing while emptying it

  • Computer paper (green/blue bar)
  • White paper (non-glossy)
  • Shredded Paper (please leave in a bag to avoid blowing)
  • Envelopes
  • Few staples/paper clips okay
  • Colored (pastels) paper
  • Glossy paper (no labels)
  • Manila folders
  • NCR (e.g., phone msg. pads)
  • Notebook paper
  • Non-foil Cards & Wrapping/tissue Paper
  • NO carbon paper

Newspapers

  • Remove ALL strings and rubber bands.
  • Plastic sleeves may now be recycled.

Plastics

Plastic grocery bags, and newspaper wrappers are now recyclable. No plastic wrap please!

Plastic Bottles/Containers #1 - #7

e.g., Shampoo and detergent bottles, cleaning products, food bottles, butter dishes, frozen food trays, yogurt containers, Plastic cups, etc.

Note: This does NOT include SOFT plastic packing/packaging. Codes can be found in the triangle on the bottom items.

Styrofoam

We collect all clean styrofoam. Small, lightweight items must be placed in bags before placing in the blue recycling carts.

Peanuts are good for reusing at home or a at many of the local packing and mail services in town; call ahead to make sure they are currently accepting them.

Textiles

We accept clean sheets, towels and clothing (no belts, shoes or hats please).

For good, reusable items, Conway encourages you to consider charities or reuse stores first.

Residential Hazardous Waste

The Conway landfill is NOT licensed to accept any toxic liquids, and will reject all loads containing liquids or hazardous materials.
